Grooming Your Miniature Schnauzer

Because the Miniature Schnauzer is non-shedding, regular grooming is a must. The Miniature Schnauzers have a softer coat than the Standard and Giant Schnauzers, and that increases their likelihood for matting and tangling. For this reason, the dog should be combed and brushed at least 3 times a week to prevent matting. Miniature Schnauzers have a double coat where the outer coat is somewhat wiry and hard. The soft undercoat is somewhat dense and close. Owners not showing their dog nor demanding a full coated Miniature Schnauzer may choose to having the pet clipped with a shorter coat by preference. Showing the dog requires a professionally managed full coat and styling demands.
